About Me

Journalism is something Cassandra has always wanted to pursue. From getting the morning paper with her grandfather and reading the whole thing before getting back to the house to watching the nightly news, she knew there were stories to tell and people to inform.

Abel recently worked for The Daily Gazette in Schenectady, NY as a Digital Content Producer. She also produced and published stories on Nippertown.com, The Recorder, The Leader-Herald, and was the primary daily reporter for The Daily Mail in Greene County, NY.

In 2023, she graduated from S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University with a Master's Degree in magazine, news and digital journalism and in 2021, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the State University of New York at Oswego.

Abel interned with NYUP.com, Syracuse.com and Explore Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina as a travel and tourism reporter and content writer. Previously, she interned for the Communication and Marketing Department at SUNY Oswego as a digital storytelling editorial intern. She has also contributed to CNY Current, The Newshouse, JERK Magazine, HER CAMPUS at Oswego, and the Odyssey Online.

During her free time, Abel enjoys playing a game of Scrabble, finishing crossword puzzles, traveling and trying new restaurants or breweries.
